About Events with Rambler
Rambler Restaurant located in the heart of Union Square in the space that previously housed Wolfgang Puck’s iconic ‘Postrio’ restaurant. Rambler carries on the spirit of conviviality and social energy that celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck established when Postrio opened in 1989 and maintained until the doors closed 20 years later.FoodExecutive Chef Robert Leva (Salt House, Redd, Auberge du Soleil, Calistoga Ranch) serves flavor-forward American fare with Italian tendencies (Leva is Italian) made with locally sourced, high quality goods. Choose from small plates like fromage blanc gnocchi with celery root and parmesan broth, a rotating list of shells (oysters) and charcuterie, as well as wood-fired pizzas cooked in Wolfgang Puck’s original Postrio pizza oven. As for mains, guests can dig into beef short rib with marrow crust, creamed spinach, and cipollini onions, and California white sea bass with shelling beans and basil. CocktailsRambler offers a mix of cocktails to suit classic tastes in addition to unique, seasonally rotating libations that utilize fresh-pressed juice and house-made tinctures. Rambler Bar Manager Simone Mims (Rich Table) produced an opening menu of craft cocktails that includes Grape Expectations (Singani 63, Pierre Ferrand dry curacao, concord grapes, tarragon), the Zeppelin Martini (Monkey 47 gin, Alessio Vermouth Bianco, cucumber bitters), and the Mele (Spring44 Mountain gin, Granny Smith apple juice, fennel, Giffard Ginger of the Indies, apple ginger foam).DesignDesigner Lori Yeomans (Wayfare Tavern, Sammy Hagar’s El Paseo) gave Rambler a California modern vibe, and sectioned the restaurant into two distinct spaces (brasserie and dining room) that accommodate 100 guests all in, and enable multiple dining and drinking experiences under one roof. The brasserie seats 48 throughout its 18-foot bar, tables, and leather banquettes, with views of the original pizza oven from Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio restaurant. Brasserie design features include patterned concrete tiles, warm woods, custom metal work, bubble glass chandeliers, and a gallery wall featuring a whimsical mix of illustrations and prints. The restaurant entrance is anchored by an oversize aluminum print entitled “On,” created by celebrated artist John Waguespack. The dining room (which seats 63 guests) has an intimate, clubby vibe with soft gray flannel banquettes, Mid Century chairs, and a curated collection of vintage photography and lithographs. Other dining room design highlights include exposed brick from the building’s original construction in the early 1900s, custom metal screens inspired by 1930s and 1940s era design, and the dedicated Zinc Bar: a four-seat specialty bar featuring a locally made zinc bar top, framed by a mirrored back bar, and American walnut bar cabinets and bookshelves filled with travel-inspired curios, books, and a vignette dedicated to Wolfgang Puck, with a framed portrait and vintage cookbooks.
