About Events with The Riverside Church
Built by John D. Rockefeller in 1927, The Riverside Church sits on one of the highest points in NYC overlooking the Hudson River and features over 350,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
AMENITIES: With a range of amenities including three industrial kitchens, Steinway grand pianos, wood burning fireplace, custom built stage, in house technology to catering, Riverside accommodates a wide variety of small-to-large sized functions.
GENERAL SPACE DESCRIPTION: Event space for 10 – 2,100 includes our soaring Nave space, Gothic and contemporary ballrooms, Tower rooms with spectacular views, 3rd floor conference center, wood paneled library, traditional proscenium theater, meditation room and two gymnasiums.
WHAT TYPES OF EVENTS IS IT MOST SUITABLE FOR? Training workshops, galas, town halls, vocal concerts, orchestras, classes, lectures, board meetings, weddings and theatrical productions
AV AND TECHNOLOGY: In-house tech team offers streaming, video and audio recording, amplifying, lighting design and more.
CATERING: Catering may be arranged through one of our five internal caterers, outside catering permitted.
TRANSPORT: One block from Broadway and minutes to the 1,2,3 subway lines
PARKING: Parking garage in building, on-street parking available.

Nave
Seats 1400 on ground level and 350 on each of our two balconies. The splendor of our main chapel, designed in the 13th Century Gothic architectural tradition of Chartres Cathedral in France cannot be surpassed. With its beautiful stained glass windows, vaulted ceiling and ornate carvings, the Nave serves as a space for book launches, concerts, conferences, funerals, lectures, meetings, memorials, weddings and more.

Christ Chapel
Christ Chapel is patterned after the nave of the eleventh century Basilica of Saints Nazarius and Celsus at Carscassonne, which was built in the Gothic-Romanesque architectural tradition and serves as a space for funerals, memorials, recitals, and small, intimate weddings.

South Hall
South Hall measures 86 feet in length and 62 feet in width and comes with a full stage and lobby.

Assembly Hall
Assembly Hall is styled in the Gothic-style with soaring stone pillars, and ornate ceiling. Assembly Hall includes a stage and serves as a multi-purpose space.

411 MLK Classroom
Practical light flooded space located in our MLK Conference Center with views east and west out oversized windows, and sliding wood doors for additional flexibility

Ninth Floor Lounge (9T)
The gothic-inspired 9th Floor Lounge provides spectacular views of the Hudson River and New Jersey on one side and upper Manhattan and the Bronx on the other. 9T has its own wood-burning fireplace, and can accommodate a party of 120 for a formal sit-down dinner.

Ninth Floor Library (9T Library)
An intimate wood paneled library which can be used as an overflow room for events held in the 9th Floor Lounge, or on its own for smaller events. Accommodates 12-15 conference style and boasts magnificent views of the Hudson River.

Tenth Floor Lounge (10T)
This gothic-inspired hall with its ornate ceiling and beautiful wooden floor evoke memories of the elegance of eras past. Bountiful windows provide spectacular views of the Hudson River to the west and views of upper Manhattan and the Bronx to the east.

The Riverside Theater
The Riverside Theatre, built inside the historic Riverside Church in Morningside Heights, is a fully-equipped, fully-staffed, 250-seat proscenium theater available to host full productions, readings, festivals, comedy nights, concerts, screenings, and more.Founded on the belief that the arts can be a transforming power in peoples’ lives, TRT has presented and provided access to performing artists from all over the world including historic ties to Alvin Ailey, Joseph Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park, and recent prominent guests from The Moth to Columbia University.An institution where the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela have brought political action and civil rights to the stage, all events are welcome at TRT.
