About Events with Kostali
KOSTALI - Opened in December! Relaxing, carefree and casually elegant, Kostali offers a transportive coastal experience in the heart of Chicago. Here, we offer cuisine inspired by the great coasts of the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel and Morocco. Kostali is a partnership between The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel with James Beard Award-Winning chef Carrie Nahabedian, along with her cousin, Michael Nahabedian. Kostali means “coastalal” in Maltese, which is the language of the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta. Kostali’s dining room offers flexibility in planning your group dining experience or large event. Options include a fully private dining room for up to 20 people, semiprivate for 10-50 people, and full restaurant buyout dining. Our 9-seat bar and lounge area can also be reserved for cocktail receptions.

RESTAURANT BUYOUT
The space’s aesthetic and cuisine is fully inspired by the great rivieras of the world, most specifically those along the Mediterranean Sea. These coastal regions evoke a feeling of luxurious relaxation. Think sun-kissed water, carefree attitude, vibrant shades of blues coupled with organic shapes, textures and natural materials. As guests traverse through the hotel lobby, their introduction to the restaurant is by way of three brass-toned metal screens. These screens relate in their color to those found throughout the lobby, but differ greatly in their patterning. Utilizing satellite imagery and nautical maps of coastlines around the world as inspiration. The nine-seat Kostali bar
may be small in stature but bold in appearance as a deep, ocean-blue enameled lava stone top floats above stained white oak and navy sapphire leather panels. This unique bar top was fabricated in France from lava rock hand-quarried in the Nugère crater found in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanos. Calming and gentle color combinations of varying shades of blue and soft browns offset by brasstoned metals pervade the space, most notably in striking customized wallcoverings that flank opposite dining room walls. The wallcovering bares resemblance to the coastline patterning of the gates, simultaneously organic and vibrant. As the restaurant is composed of essentially three separate spaces, we sought to create visual interest around every turn, so each area provides a somewhat different experience.
