About Events with Hotel Saint Vincent
Located in a landmark 1861 building in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans,Hotel Saint Vincent is a new 75-room hotel from Austin-based hospitality group McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality, a company from industry veterans Larry McGuire, Tom Moorman and Liz Lambert. An architectural icon in the Lower Garden District since its conception in the 1860s, the red brick building was originally founded as The Saint Vincent’s Infant Asylum by Irish immigrant Margaret Haughery, a bakery owner and philanthropist celebrated for her humanitarian services in New Orleans. Keeping much of the original architecture, Hotel Saint Vincent honors the property’s storied past and Margaret’s legacy through a highly considered restoration—incorporating an elegant, modern design that complements the property’s historic character. Today, the property features 75 newly-designed guest rooms and lush public spaces, including an interior courtyard with a Saltillo enclosed swimming pool, outdoor verandas, event center, signature bars, and two full-service restaurants—San Lorenzo, serving a coastal Italian menu, and a French-Vietnamese-style café and bakery, Elizabeth Street Café. The hotel is also home to ByGeorge New Orleans, an offshoot of the Austin-based retail boutique. Located on the corner of Magazine and Race streets in the historic Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Hotel Saint Vincent’s surrounding neighborhood is rich in 19th century architecture, including Greek Revival and Italianate-style mansions, iconic side-hall double-galleried residences, open green spaces, active arts community, as well as eclectic eateries and antique shops. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, the Lower Garden District, with its oak tree-lined streets and walkability, is known as being a relaxing and quiet neighborhood far, but not too far, from the fun and frolic that defines New Orleans—making it the ideal location for the hotel.
