About Events with Hawthorn Lounge
It's no secret: San Franciscans like a good cocktail and great music. Hawthorn, San Francisco's newest hybrid cocktail lounge, delivers both, which opened on July 1st, 2014. Located at 46 Geary Street, just a few blocks from Union Square in the heart of the Financial District, Hawthorn blends the best of historic San Francisco with 21st century amenities. Down one level from the street, the bar and sunken lounge is located in a section of the city that was the epicenter of illicit activities during the California Gold Rush. Fully refurbished by the Joshua Rowland Design Team in SF, Hawthorn features rich, warm textures, Austrian drapes, deep lavender ceiling swathes, and comfortable lounge seating throughout. In addition to being a retro-chic cocktail lounge for unpretentious but fabulous cocktails, Hawthorn offers music and dancing in the later hours featuring electronic music of all genres on a world-class VOID Tri-Motion sound system, custom built in the UK and first of its kind in North America, that'll be sure to impress the most finicky of music and sound aficionados. Hawthorn is the brain child of partners Chadwick Baumbach (Kimpton Group, La Costanera) and Gabriel McWilliams with Jenny Kiely (Mars Bar) heading front of the house and Nate Mezmer (EyeHeartSF) leading marketing, promotions and talent buying. Hawthorn’s signature drink menu was created by accomplished San Francisco bar chef consultant Ethan Terry (Alembic, 15 Romolo) and features seven signature cocktails that were inspired by traditional 80s club cocktails all grown up, such as the Mucho Melon Sour, made with Vodka, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, fresh melon & lemon juice, egg white, raw sugar syrup & jalepeno juice.Hawthorn offers 2 rooms - the main salon which has a capacity of 260 guests, and the back Bonaparte Room which holds 75 guests - giving you the option of hosting your group of 30 to 300 at any time. There is a separate sound system for the back room to allow for client's own music format or presentation needs, along with it's own private bartender. The space has ADA and elevator access directly into the space for easy load-in and production needs.Hawthorn does not have it's own kitchen facilities, so clients are welcome to bring in their own catering options, or choose from one of our own preferred vendors that can provide anything from light appetizers and bites to a full gourmet multi-station event.Hawthorn is open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday, 5pm-12am, Thursday and Friday, 4pm-2am, and Saturday 7pm-2am, but always available for table reservations and private events.
