Rijstaffel which translates to "Rice Table" is a popular offering in the Netherlands which involves an elaborate meal comprised of a significant number of small plates served Family style. Chef David de Quay offers his own spin on a traditional Rijstaffel service adding a number of Dutch culinary traditions such as Genever Marinated Salmon Gravlax, Asparagus Salad, Stroopwafel etc. along with Indonesian classics such as Chicken Sate, Nasi Goreng, Curries, Lumpia, Stir Fry Noodles and more. Sommelier Terry McNeese is always available to hand select wines by the glass to highlight and pair Chef David's special menu. Not too big, not to small, perfect for some passed appetizers with cocktails then a nice intimate sit down dinner, The centerpiece for the room is the original hand made 1920 true Chicago bar with onyx top. Not your usual party room porta bar.
de Quay is the realization of a dream for Chef/Owner David de Quay. This dream extends back to David’s early childhood wishes to become a Chef, and wonderful memories of his first taste of Dutch cooking from Oma’s garden, and her kitchen in Holland. We love it and so did quite a few of Chicago's Critics.
