About Events with Captain Whidbey
Built in 1907 as the Whid-Isle Inn, Captain Whidbey enjoys a serene and protected forest setting on Penn Cove only 1.5 hours outside of Seattle. Captain Whidbey is just minutes from the destination resort town of Coupeville, and set in the heart of Ebey’s National Historical Reserve on Whidbey Island. For over 110 years, the Captain Whidbey has provided intimate lodging, distinct hospitality and quality fare. It’s historic lodge is home to Judge Lester Still’s seaside tavern, restaurant and time-stopping guest quarters above. It’s native timbered walls and stone fireplaces provide an irreplaceable sense of warmth & coziness.FOOD & BEVERAGE Captain Whidbey is an intimate-sized property, making us best suited to host a maximum of 75 guests for plated events and up to 200 guests on property for cocktail, family style or buffet style events. Based on our 29 rooms, 62 guests may also spend the night.Larger events that are commonly accommodated are corporate events, social events, weddings, and other special occasions!We also host smaller events and retreats around the property that do not require a full property buy out. Smaller events that are commonly accommodated are birthday parties, cocktail receptions, rehearsal dinners, baby/bridal showers, and other special occasions!Join us for a meal in the Inn’s dining room, a casual experience in Judge Still’s Tavern or on our outdoor patio overlooking Penn Cove.The Restaurant, Tavern and Patio, as well as our spacious 6 acres of lawns and gardens provide a gorgeous setting for any event. We can host up to 60 guests for formal seated events in the Restaurant, Tavern and/or Patio or up to 100 guests for cocktail events. Our beautiful lawns and gardens can host up to 200, depending on the location and meal style.
