About Events with Busboys and Poets - Brookland
Busboys and Poets is a community gathering place. First established in 2005, Busboys and Poets was created by owner Anas "Andy" Shallal, an Iraqi-American artist, activist and restaurateur. After opening the flagship location at 14th and V Streets, NW (Washington, DC), the neighboring residents and the progressive community embraced Busboys, especially activists opposed to the Iraq War. Busboys and Poets is now located in six distinctive neighborhoods in the Washington Metropolitan area and is a community resource for artists, activists, writers, thinkers and dreamers.Busboys and Poets is a gathering space unlike any other, and events are among the things we do best! Each of our restaurants feature a unique performance space with its own stage, lighting, projection and sound equipment. In addition to in-house series (events produced exclusively by Busboys and Poets) and a number of weekly and monthly poetry programs, we also host an exciting variety of functions ranging from meetings, private receptions and happy hours to public programming, mostly free of charge or at an affordable admission cover (usually $5 or under).Whether the event you’re planning is an author/book talk, film screening, discussion, talent showcase, political rally or artist talk, you’ll find a welcoming space at Busboys. We believe our special events set us apart from other restaurants and bars, keeping us authentically connected to the diverse communities in which our restaurants are located.Busboys and Poets often partners with individuals and groups whose work is aligned with our Tribal Statement. We also offer excellent discounts for non-profit organizations hosting fundraisers and other special events.
