Spring Venue Spotlight: 5 Botanical Gardens

    March 6, 2019

While snow is still blanketing part of the country, all eyes are turned toward on the promise of spring.

But it’s not just the idea of warmer weather and longer days that gets party planners excited. It’s the opportunity to incorporate natural, floral elements into the venue décor. Few other elements bring a wow-factor quite like colorful flowers and lush greenery.

That’s why botanical gardens are making their way to the top of event space wish lists, as they allow for a beautiful, unique backdrop for your wedding, anniversary, birthday, or engagement party. We’ve rounded up some amazing botanical-filled venues that are as stunning as they are welcoming — and ready to host your next fete.

    1. Mead Botanical Garden – Winter Park, Florida

Looking for a beautiful, open-air destination near all that Orlando has to offer? Consider the breathtaking elements surrounding guests at the luscious 47 acres of Mead Botanical Garden. With a focus on value, they offer a wide range of amenities that are affordably priced for all budgets and occasions.

Highlights include picture-perfect locations where you can take your professional photos, such as the Butterfly Garden, a wooden bridge, and azalea patch. Choose to host your event indoors at the 2,400 square-foot Clubhouse (complete with reception hall, kitchen, and a capacity for 175 guests) or move things outdoors with the Little Amphitheater, which offers an adorable charm with its wrought iron trellis and Southern details.

This outdoor space provides a stage and benches for up to 225 guests. Larger musical events will find the perfect home at the outdoor amphitheater. There are so many choices at this venue, celebrations of all sizes will find themselves right at home.

    2. Atlanta Botanical Garden – Atlanta, Georgia

Botanical gardens are known for their diverse offerings for parties of all sizes, and the Atlanta Botanical Garden venue is no exception. With the George Pacific classroom for your business lectures and the sprawling Alston Overlook offering a panoramic view of the Downtown skyline, no two parts of this stunning locale are alike.

Consider the Rose Garden, with its giant arbor covered in 21 varieties of climbing roses (and seating for 200), or book the Edible Garden with Outdoor Kitchen to create a truly fresh food experience found nowhere else.

Other options include the tropical plants and rushing water of the Cascades Garden and the 600-foot-long canopy walk nestled high in the treetops. Your guests will have something to talk about (and stunning photos to match, most likely) long after your event is over!

For a truly priceless experience, book the Fuqua Orchid Center, which helps support conservation efforts by showcasing the mysterious varieties of orchids often seen only in books. This glasshouse building is a popular stop and a terrific add-on to your event that lets your guests learn and immerse themselves in a rare part of nature.

    3. University of Washington Botanic Garden – Seattle, Washington

The UW Botanic Garden offers two main locations for any event size. The Washington Park Arboretum and the Center for Urban Horticulture are just two miles apart and include Wisteria Hall, two outdoor terraces, and courtyards to hold hundreds of guests.

Several indoor classroom spaces, complete with WiFi and A/V equipment, make it appropriate for business events, too. The 230-acre park is also home to fragrance gardens with room for food trucks, tents, and ample parking.

Don’t forget about the CUH Event Lawn, a rare opportunity to use outdoor space for up to 350 people. Past events here have included sporting tournaments, outdoor weddings, and family festivals (bring your own bouncy house).

Merrill Common is also a big hit for those who love the look of the outdoors under a protected structure; this glass atrium fits 80 seated and has been a top destination for live music events, cash bar fundraisers, and corporate dinners.

    4. Alta Vista Botanical Garden – Alta Vista, California

It features Ceremonial Rose Gardens with fountain, a Garden House that’s ideal for indoor receptions, and a Heritage Rose Garden with full, lush reception lawn.
