Princess and the Pea Birthday Party

    October 28, 2013

Is your little girl a princess? Why not throw her a Princess and the Pea birthday party this year to celebrate her special day? Check out our tips and tricks on how to create a magical Princess and the Pea birthday party.

    The Mattresses

First, decide where you will put the mattresses within your event space. You could put them by the entrance so your birthday girl can welcome the guests on their way in, or you could have the mattresses in the main play area. Crib-sized mattresses work well for this display since you can stack them high without taking up too much space. Next, cover each mattress in colorful sheets. Make sure each one is covered in a unique fabric or pattern to make it really look like it does in the fairytale.

    Food

Have a long table where you can lay out a feast fit for kings (and princesses!) so that all the guests can grab the food themselves. Have some popular food choices for kids like chicken and potato chips as well as some yummy items for the adults in the house, like spinach dip, bagel chips and veggies.

You can also make some more unique items that tie into the theme. Desserts work well for this, such as a Princess and the Pea decorated cake, and cupcakes with princess crown toppings. You could also serve “the pea” as dessert; a scoop of vanilla ice cream dyed green, or put a single green pea on each cupcake.

If you’re doing a morning birthday party, you could always serve a feast of breakfast, complete with pancakes, waffles, bacon, and eggs. Creating a waffle station is a great way to add a little fun to mealtime. Just make the waffles ahead of time and keep them warm in the oven until ready to serve. Then have a bunch of toppings on a long table and have the kids top their waffles!

    Tiaras

Every little girl invited to the party should get a tiara as they walk into your beautifully decorated event space. For the birthday girl, take some time before the party to make hers extra special. Decorate it with glitter and colorful ribbons to make it stand out from the rest.

    Princess Dress Up Table

If you’re looking for other ways to entertain the girls during the party, create a princess dress up table station. Set up a large table or a couple of tables in an area of your event space that you don’t mind getting a little messy. Stock it with buckets of costume jewelery, sparkly shoes, and some kid friendly makeup like lip gloss and blush. Set up some cosmetic mirrors as well. This is a great activity that gets kids mingling.
