[Pin Board] Wedding Wednesday: Traditional Irish Wedding

    February 27, 2013

With the launch of Eventup in Philadelphia this week, St. Patrick's Day around the corner we couldn't help but be inspired by this combination for Wedding Wednesday. So, we've created a Traditional Irish wedding featuring a few of the historic Philadelphia event venues that you'll find on Eventup.com.

We were inspired by both modern and traditional Irish wedding gowns along with the many beautiful and symbolic traditions of the Irish culture like the Claddagh ring, featuring two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown is said to represent the qualities of love, friendship and loyalty and handfasting, another Irish tradition giving way to the expression "tying the knot." Handfasting is where the couple holds the hands of the other, right hand to right hand, left hand to left, their wrists crossed. A ribbon is wound around the wrists over the top of one and under and around the other, creating the infinity symbol.

We chose a mix of vintage and modern elements to create the details of this Irish wedding, like cake pops and custom clips for your wedding shoes to burlap favor bags filled with lavender and soft simple flowers.

Don't forget your Irish band and your whiskey and stout.
