[Pin Board]: Wedding Wednesday: The Great Gatsby-Inspired Wedding

    May 8, 2013

Warner Brothers film adaptation of The Great Gatsby opens on May 10th, so it’s only a matter of time before brides all over the world are striving for celebrations inspired by the most opulent host in party history. So how do you make a Gatsby-inspired wedding that’s as great as the man himself?

The Fashion: The Great Gatsby is a story set in the splendor of the roaring 20’s, and any Gatsby wedding worth its salt should reflect that carefree, retro style. Years of themed parties and Halloween costumes should make this an easy style to recreate for many a bride, but those who want some more instruction need only remember a few simple rules: dropped waists and finger waves for the ladies, three piece suits and spectator shoes for the gents!

The Colors: If someone asks you about The Great Gatsby, what comes to mind? Regardless of how long it’s been since you read the book in high school, I’m all but certain your thoughts immediately go “green” – more specifically, the green light at the end of Daisy Buchanan’s dock. A color so integral to the story should be incorporated into your ceremony! Accessorize with emeralds, or mix green into your decorating palate. It’s the sort of special touch that will really make your retro-inspired wedding into a true Gatsby spectacle.

The Venue: Of course it wouldn’t be a Gatsby party without a lavish, beautiful event space, so make sure you book something really special. A classy nightclub or a fashionable new event space make for great wedding locations, and they give you a lot of freedom to decorate and create the 1920s party of your dreams! Or if you’re really looking for a Gatsby party vibe, rent out an elegant home - after all, Gatsby’s greatest parties took place at his humble abode.
