[Pin Board]: Wedding Wednesday: Mardi Gras Themed Wedding

    February 6, 2013

With Mardi Gras right around the corner, we thought we’d get you in the spirit with a Mardi Gras themed wedding! This week for Wedding Wednesday we went for all things Mardi Gras to show you several different ways to incorporate this theme into your wedding.

We started with Mardi Gras decorations, an essential part to pulling this themed wedding off. We all know the Mardi Gras colors of Gold, Purple, and Green, but it’s important to choose the same shades of these colors and stick to them. Too many color variations can become clashing, especially with such bold colors like these.

While investigating what people have done in the past, we came across wedding gowns used for Mardi Gras themed weddings. We found that corset tops and large and 'poofy' bottoms were very popular amongst previous Mardi Gras weddings. We also noticed that many brides incorporated the Mardi Gras colors into their actual ceremony by having the bridesmaids rock purple, gold or green bridesmaids dresses. We thought this was a fun and creative way to keep the theme consistant for both the reception and ceremony.

Last, when choosing a wedding venue, it’s important to keep in mind the Mardi Gras decorations you’d like to use. The venue must accommodate all the decorations and colors you’ve chosen. We liked large open venues with neutral tones. This way, lights and decorations stand out and won't clash with the event venue.

While planning the Mardi Gras themed wedding, we came across a few other cute Mardi Gras wedding ideas like cakes and bouquets. We loved everything we found for its bright, bold colors. The whole point of Mardi Gras is fun, so remember to keep that in mind while planning your Mardi Gras themed wedding!
