Luck O' The Irish: St. Patrick's Day Decor

    February 21, 2013

Get your green ready because St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner! If you're having a St. Patty's Day party or you just like to be festive for the holidays,  do not worry this year because decorating for this fun holiday is easier than you think.

    Green, Green, Green:

We all know the tradition: if you don't wear green, you get pinched. Well, it goes without saying that if your house, apartment, or event venue isn't decked out in green, it may not be taken seriously on St. Patrick's Day. Add extra green to your  household or event, such as green table cloths and linens, napkins, green balloons, and more. Just make sure not to go overboard!

    Pots o' Gold and Rainbows:

It isn't quite St. Patrick's Day without the pot of gold and you can't have a pot of gold without a rainbow, right? Everyone loves a good rainbow, so either using paint, ribbon, or even a projector, depending on the location of your event, put a large rainbow on the wall and a pot of gold (or chocolate) at the end. These pots of gold can either be fake or real pots. If they are real, fill them with chocolate gold coins. Your guests or visitors will love it, especially if there is chocolate involved.

    Shamrocks

Feel like your walls are lacking in some St. Patty's Day spirit? Use this simple shamrock template and green construction paper to make shamrocks and decorate any surface you would like. You can make shamrocks of any size and use them in any way that seems fit, whether that is sprinkling small ones on table tops or posting bigger ones all around the walls. If you are looking for a more permanent, sleek shamrock display, you can make or purchase wooden shamrocks as well!

    Green Food Coloring:

Saint Patrick's Day is very well-known for its green beer. Whether you are merely decorating for fun or for an event, adding some green food coloring to your drinks, such as lemonade or beer, or to your cupcake frosting, will be a tasty and new experience for your guests!

    Four Leaf Clover Bouquet:

Need a centerpiece? Try this adorable four leaf clover/shamrock bouquet. All you need to do is make medium sized shamrocks out of various papers, some green, some not (adding black and white ones will give this bouquet a classy touch). Glue these shamrocks onto wooden sticks and put them in a vase. Tie some decorative rope around the neck of the bottle and there you have your very own four leave clover bouquet!

    Party Favors:

If you are hosting a St. Patrick's Day party, party favors are a must. Your guests will enjoy them, especially the ones who forgot to wear green! Paper Leprechaun hats and green beaded necklaces are inexpensive and always a crowd favorite. You can also place the party favors around the house or event venue, thus they double as decoration until they are being worn.
