Lifecasting Prom: How to Memorialize Your Prom While Still Being Present

    May 13, 2013

Prom is a momentous occasion for almost every high school student, so you want to be sure it is well-documented. At the same time, you don't want to miss out on your prom by over-documenting it. There are a few things you can do to make sure you are living in the moment while documenting it simultaneously. Below, we have found a few ways for you to do just that.

    Take Advantage of Instagram

We all know the saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. When it comes to looking back on memories of prom, pictures will be one of the main sources. Consider having everyone in your group of friends or everyone in your school use a specific hashtag for every photo posted to Instagram. This way, you won't need to spend too much of your time taking photos since you will be able to get them later. This is especially useful for getting pictures of your event venue. Most likely, someone has already taken pictures of the prom location, the decorations, and more. All you have to do is browse through the hashtags and save your favorites!

    Video Apps

If pictures say a thousand words, videos must say a lot more. There is nothing more fun (and sometimes embarrassing) than looking back at old videos, especially from a big event like prom. Prom is the perfect opportunity to take quick videos of you and your friends getting ready, everyone having fun on the dance floor, and more. You can share videos easily, especially on apps such as Vine. Just be sure not to be taking too many videos or else you will be experiencing your prom from behind a camera!

    Twitter

Twitter is a great way to see what all your friends are up to and what they are thinking. Similar to Instagram, if you use a uniform hashtag, it will be easy to see the ongoings of your friends and everyone else in the event venue. Twitter will especially be great to document certain songs that are playing or humorous moments that occur. Just like with any social media tool, try not to be glued to your phone the entire time!

    GroupMe App

If you are planning to go to prom with a big group of people, the GroupMe app would be a perfect way to catalog all the memories and situations that occur throughout the night. Similar to a group text message, GroupMe allows you to text, share pictures, videos, and more with anyone who is assigned to your group. With this app it is easier than ever to take minimal amount of photos or videos yet still have your entire prom memorialized through a group collaboration.
