Find the Perfect Wedding Shoes for the Perfect Wedding Dress

    June 14, 2012

The big day is coming up and you have found your dress, but what about your shoes? Weddings range from beachside casual to black tie formal and everywhere in between. Thanks to a variety of designs, there are shoes to fit every kind of wedding and dress! Don’t fret beautiful bride, you don’t need added stress right now. Here are a few things you should consider when looking for your shoes:

Venue: Is your dream wedding located on a white sand beach in the tropics? If so, heels are a no go. No one wants to watch a bride twist her ankle teetering through sand dunes in four-inch stilettos. A strappy flat sandal with an ankle tie or laces could be just the ticket. Steve Madden makes a great t-strap flat that comes in a variety of colors that would match a dress no matter the shade, from white to blush. Another option is a flat, closed toe shoe. Toms makes a slip on shoe that is made entirely out of white lace. This is for the more casual wedding, but they are quite beautiful and perfect for summer.

Attire: As the traditional ceremony goes, many weddings list “black tie attire” on invitations. Whether your wedding is at a Scottish castle in the countryside or at your grandmother’s country club, you want to stick with what the rest of the guests are wearing. If your wedding is outdoors, remember you have options, too! Want to go barefoot? Add an exotic touch with a beautiful anklet that wraps around the second toe. It is a fun surprise and a beautiful way to dress up a bare foot!

Your dress: You have to love the shoes as much as you love your dress! Matching is not the most important part here, although some brides want a uniform color head to toe. A pop of color can be fun and show a lot of personality as you walk down the aisle! There are so many options for shoes online and at department stores. Brides on a budget should check out Zappos, which carries an impressive number of shoes in almost every size. If your dress is intricate, let the beadwork or lace be the star and look for simpler shoes that don’t distract from the dress.

If your dress is simple and you are adventurous, try a shoe with embellishment or a bright color. Be it a silk flower, beading or a bow, these details should add interest to your dress.

Lastly, remember that it is your day! These are a few ideas – if you pair simple shoes with a simple dress your wedding will not go up in flames. If you are comfortable in diamond platform heels or white Doc Martens, you should go for it. Its your day to shine and the perfect shoes might not be the most important part of the day, but the can make you sparkle just that little bit more!
