    Do you need new appetizer ideas for your next party? Why not go vegetarian? Serving vegetarian appetizers has many perks: you don’t have to worry about catering to special diets, plus veggie apps are easy to prep, store, and serve. We’ve rounded up some of the most popular vegetarian appetizers to make it easy for you to plan your next event. Take a look and get cooking!

    Bruschetta

    This popular vegetarian appetizer is a cinch to make! Rather than serving them all with the same tomato and mozzarella topping that is so common, mix it up by adding different toppings to each piece of bruschetta. To prep the bread, first you toast it, rub it with garlic, drizzle it with olive oil and then salt to taste. Go to your local farmers market and select some seasonal produce that would go well on top of bread. Some ideas for the different bruschetta toppings are hummus with cucumber, goat cheese with figs, and pesto with sun dried tomatoes.

    Brie and Fig Preserves Pie Bites

    These sweet, salty, and creamy treats are sure to delight your guests. Use pie crust or puff pastry and cut into square or round shapes, then place on parchment paper. If your dough turns soft, pop it in the fridge or freezer to firm it up. Then place a small piece of cheese on each round with a small piece of fig on top of the cheese. Put the dough tops on each circle. You should poke holes and create an "X" on the tops to let steam escape while cooking.  Pinch the edges together, brush each pastry with an egg wash, pop in the oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Voila!

    Zucchini Fries with Dip

    Sure to satisfy vegetarians and carnivores alike, zucchini fries are perfect appetizers to pass around your event venue. Slice them lengthwise into ¼-inch strips. Dip them in flour, then dip them in a lightly beaten egg and then into panko break crumbs. Place the strips directly onto the oven rack, with the oven heated to 400°F, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve with buttermilk ranch dip or any other popular dip.

    Easy Veggie Pizza

    Get pizza dough, olive oil, garlic, cheese, onion, basil, and whatever other seasonal veggies you want for this crowd pleaser. Preheat oven to 550°F and roll out your dough. Brush with olive oil and minced garlic, then top with your cheese, onion, and tomatoes. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until crisp. It’s up to you if you want to cook all the veggies in the oven or throw some on top of the pizza after baking for a fresher option. If you want to add sauce, you could easily add a light tomato sauce or pesto sauce for a more filling option. Cut into small slices so your guests can eat them easily in your event space.

    Cucumber Bites

    These are super refreshing and easy to make. Simply cut your cucumbers into rounds and top with fresh cheese, hummus, tomatoes, or anything else that looks good! Put on fancy serving planners and poke with toothpicks to make them easy to eat.

    Veggie Stuffed Quesadillas

    This easy veggie stuffed quesadilla recipe is full of flavor. Simply take large tortilla rounds, fill with cheese and veggies, fold in half and stick in a frying pan with a little oil or butter. Cook on each side for 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted and tortilla is golden. Cut into triangles and serve.

    Chips and Dip

    You can’t go wrong with this vegetarian appetizer. Everyone loves chips and dip! Get a platter of chips with some dipping sauces so that everyone can get a little variety on their plate. Serve queso sauce for the chips, as well as guacamole, salsa, and even black bean dip. Make sure to provide lots of napkins for this one as it can get messy!

    Veggie Platter with Dip

    This is perhaps the easiest of veggie apps to prepare yet continues to be a popular hit at parties. Load up on carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a really good dip, anything from a creamy ranch to a healthy homemade hummus. Arrange onto a serving dish and you’re done! For a personal touch, make your own dipping sauce rather than serving store bought sauce. Add a little spice to your sauce to give it a different spin. You can also provide crackers and cheese with the platter to cater to those guests who want a little something extra.
