Amenities to Think about when Looking for a Wedding Venue

    February 13, 2013

Planning a wedding is a big deal! One of the most important components of planning a wedding is choosing the wedding venue. You want to make sure the event space is suited to accommodate everyone attending. Additionally, it’s extra important to make sure the location has all the amenities you may need for the big day. Here are some amenities to think about when looking for a wedding venue.

Catering. The event venue should have an area accessible for catering the wedding meal. Outside catering works for places with great weather such as Los Angeles. However, if you’re planning an event in Boston or somewhere similar, you may want to consider getting a location with a space available to cater inside.

Rooms. Do you want your special guests to stay the night after the wedding? Then you’ll need to find an event space with rooms available to accommodate everyone. Depending on the size of your wedding, this can be a challenging task. If need be, you can always save the event bed rooms for VIP guests and then block off rooms at a nearby hotel for the rest of the gang.

A/V Equipment. Most weddings feature a DJ or band with music playing all night long. Lots of people also play videos and other forms of multimedia during the event. Make sure you choose a event space that can accommodate your needs. It’s important to also test all equipment before the big day to make sure it’s all working as it should!

Parking. Be it a garage, valet, or street parking, your guests need a place to park their car during the big day. It’s always best to overestimate the amount of space you will need rather than underestimate and run out of space. If it’s a huge wedding, you might want to consider hiring valet or parking lot attendants to help out and keep the line of cars flowing smoothly.

Handicap Accessible. Many venues offer handicap access which is very important to ensure all guests can attend the event safely. Be sure to reserve seats up front for the handicap guests so they don’t miss any of the action. Also, consider notifying your ushers and other staff of the guests who will be in wheelchairs so they can offer a helping hand when needed.
